This program, with some changes, provides supplemental funds to the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. Stony Brook University signed and returning to the Education Department a Certification and Agreement as required under the CARES Act section 18004(a)(1) program. We acknowledge that by drawing down the CRRSAA funds, our institution agrees to be bound by the conditions set forth in the CRRSAA Supplemental Agreement including using 100 percent of these funds to provide emergency aid grants to students.    Key Facts As of 7/20/2021- Total HEERF II Funds awarded to SBU: $9,855,357 Total HEERF II funds received by SBU: $9,855,357 Total HEERF II funds disbursed to students: $9,855,357 Number of Stony Brook Students offered a HEERF II Direct to Student Award: 9,101 Historical Reporting Data Grant Distribution In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, funds have been made available through the Higher Education Emergency Relief (HEERF) portion of the Coronavirus response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) to award emergency grants for expenses related to any component of your cost of attendance or for emergency costs that arise due to the pandemic. Eligible expenses include tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care), or childcare. Stony Brook University has identified 25,648 students that are eligible to participate in programs under HEERF II.  Stony Brook University under SUNY guidance requires students to have a valid FAFSA on file to be reviewed for eligibility. These funds will be offered as grants and refunded directly to you. The refund you receive may be used to pay any balance owed to the University.    Frequently Asked Questions Am I eligible to receive HEERF II funds? Students are required to have a valid 20/21 FAFSA on file with the University. Per SUNY guidance, 97% of the funding will be offered to students who have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $5,712. Any remaining funding will be awarded to students with exceptional need.  The Base Grant for eligible full-time students is $600 and the Base Grant for eligible part-time students is $300. What are the terms and conditions of the grant? Please sign into SOLAR and accept or decline your CRRSAA HEERF II Direct-to-Std award by going to Campus Financial Services > Financial Aid > View & Accept/Decline FinAid and select the 2021 Aid Year.  If you accept the award it will be refunded to you via direct deposit or a mailed paper check. For faster receipt of your grant, Enroll in Direct Deposit under Campus Financial Services in SOLAR.  If you decline, the award will be removed from your account.  I still owe a balance on my student account. Will HEERF II pay off that balance?
